viva Las Vegas!!!

So, I am SUPER excited because in a few months, I'll be going on a girls trip to Vegas!!! Since my beautiful cousin Christen is turning 21 this September 2nd, we thought it would be a perfect trip for her to have her first gamble...and maybe a fruity drink :) So I'll be joining her, my aunt Jeri and my mom for a 4-day weekend in the City of Lights!

I've never been before, so I'm really excited to see what all the hype is about... We're staying at the Mirage hotel which is apparently super nice and has lots of fun attractions going on. I just cant wait to see all of the cool hotels, fun shopping, and lay by the pool of the hotel! And, maybe I'll try my luck at the slot machines, but I'm really in NO place to gamble all of our newlywed money away! :) Everybody's gotta try it once in their life, right?

It'll be the longest I've been away from my new husband since we got married so that's a little sad, but he's already planning a boys' weekend so I think we'll be okay :) We're already planning on going there for an anniversary in the coming years, so I'll scout out all of the good places this time!

For anyone that's been before, what should we see and do? I know the shows are incredible, but are there any other attractions that we just can't miss?!

Why am I so sad about this? Ryan, we may need to plan a vow renewal soon so I can plan something.... :)

I love being married.... but sometimes I miss being the "bride". Oh well. {insert another pity party here}

App Engine Hack-a-thon: Chicago

Please join us on July 31st for a Google App Engine Hack-a-thon in the Windy City.

Learn about Google App Engine

The events will include training on the major features of Google App Engine, including data modeling, the App Engine APIs, some aspects of Django, and how to mashup App Engine with other web services. Google Engineers and Product Managers will be on hand to help and to answer questions throughout the day.

Build With Us, or Build Your Own

Throughout the day, we will be building a complete App Engine application, and sharing the code with you so you can code along with us. If, on the other hand, you already have a great idea for what to build, bring that idea along. Even better, bring along anything you can prepare ahead of time (sketches, designs, web page mock ups, etc.) and use the time and information provided to develop your idea into a working application, then share it with the world.

At the end of the day, we'll invite you to share your App Engine applications with the group.

What Do I Need?

We will provide facilities, power, food and refreshments and experts to help you learn to use Google App Engine and write your application. Just bring your laptops, ideas and enthusiasm to complete the mix.

When and Where?

The Chicago hack-a-thon will take place Thursday July 31st, 2008 from 10AM-6PM. It will be held in Google's Chicago Office at 20 W. Kinzie St.
